TOLEDO, Ohio, July 11th, 2022 – Howard T. Moriarty Company is proud to announce its new name, Moriarty Machinery & Supply. Located at 143 Broadway St near the Anthony Wayne Bridge in downtown Toledo, Moriarty Machinery & Supply provides construction equipment, safety equipment, and supplies to businesses all over the world.
Howard’s father, Thomas Moriarty, started in the construction industry in 1908 performing bridge repair, building bridges, and working for a time with his brother. In 1930 Thomas founded Moriarty Machinery. After working for his father for a number of years, Howard started the Howard T. Moriarty Company in 1949. James Moriarty Sr. took over the family business after Howard passed away in 1977 and then bought Moriarty Machinery in 1982.
Starting as a construction rental company, Moriarty Machinery & Supply has grown to include a large selection of supplies for construction, industrial, and consumer markets along with a wide range of different equipment for sale or rent.
When James Moriarty Sr.’s son, Patrick, bought the business in April 2021, he saw an opportunity to tap into the company’s strong roots while telling a better story of who the company is. “I wanted people to know who we are and what we do just by our name, and I was excited about incorporating a name that has so much history. My grandfather had our logo designed by a local artist in the 1950s, and we knew it was time for our brand to be refreshed.”
Patrick anticipates the new name and brand transition will be fully complete within the next six months, including the launch of a brand-new e-commerce website within the next year.
