About MIA Music Summit

The MIA Music Summit will take place for the first time on March 24th, 2014 at Miami's premier music laboratory, the New World Center. The event will gather some of today's leading digital music experts, startups and investors from around the globe in order to discuss the latest trends that are at the intersection of music and technology.

The MIA Music Summit is designed to inform and entertain all those passionate about music and its future. So, if you regularly stream music on your smartphone, own the latest noise-cancelling headphones, or spend countless hours scouting the Internet for the latest sounds, you can’t miss this event.

The MIA Music Summit speakers will represent some of the world's most innovative and knowledgeable subject matter experts on today's most relevant music topics, such as music production and distribution, digital trends, Big Data and recommendation technologies. etc.. They will share with the audience their experiences, ideas and vision for the future, so attendees can leave the MIA Music Summit full of inspiration and challenged to think bigger than ever before.

Benji Rogers

Benji Rogers is an independent musician from London who has been making his own records since 1999. In 2009, Benji founded PledgeMusic, the leading international direct-to-fan platform. This year Benji was recognized on Billboard’s 40 Under 40 Power Players list.

Bill is the CEO of Senzari, a technology company focused on music services, and CEO of Wahwah Networs, Senzari's subsidiary developing the music solution for web publishers.

Bora Celik

Bora Celik is the co-founder and Head of Product at Jukely, a matchmaker for concerts and friends that creates an open social conversation around live music and brings people together. Bora is an engineer who got into concert promotions and brought big acts like Tiesto and Kaskade to the Connecticut music scene.

Stanford University

Chris Chafe is a composer, improvisor and cellist, developing much of his music alongside computer-based research. He is Director of Stanford University's Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA).

Clyde Smith

Demian is the COO of Senzari, which builds graph based recommenders for music and movies, and is also the founder of HackDay Foundation.

Derrick Ashong

An experienced musician, broadcaster and digital media influencer, DNA has carved out a unique niche as an expert in bridging the gap between old and new media. He has been invited to speak and perform at prestigious institutions and has hosted and moderated events for influencers and heads of state including Nobel Laureates Archbishop Desmond Tutu and former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev.

Over the course of a year, Alex has raised millions of dollars for clients including Oscar and Emmy-nominated filmmakers and Neil Young.



MIA Music HackDay will be Miami's first hackathon specifically for the music industry, and the five finalists will get to pitch their hacks on stage at the MIA Music Summit. The HackDay will take place the The LAB Miami on March 22nd and 23rd, 2014.
